A Prince George’s County resident was among nine students to receive Salisbury University’s Henry H. “Buddy” Hanna Memorial Award scholarships. The award gives varying amounts of money to students at the university who are working as interns to legislators in Annapolis, to help cover the cost of traveling and working there, according a statement from the school.

Colin Buzzerd of Bowie has been working for Sen. Nathaniel McFadden (D-Dist. 45) of Baltimore city.

“They’re working for some of the more prestigious delegates,” said Katie Martin, a spokeswoman with the school. “It’s definitely an honor for those students.”

All of the students are political science majors and had to apply for the scholarship in October 2012 and were selected as winners in December or early January before the start of the 2013 General Assembly, according to a statement from the school.
