Montgomery County Police investigated the incident.

The crash took place near Montgomery Village Avenue and Route 355, as the MCFRS SUV driven by Battalion Chief Pete Friedman was traveling through an intersection. According to witnesses, the emergency vehicle stopped at the intersection and then began to pass through it slowly when it collided with another vehicle driven by Nicholas Murphy, said Robert Ladany, an MCPD spokesman. It had its lights and siren on, he said.

Friedman and all six people in Murphy’s vehicle were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries, according to a MCFRS release concerning the incident.

Murphy, of the 400 block of Girard Street was charged with failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, Ladany said.
