The St. Thomas More Academy, which moved to a new location in Middletown in 2012, will have a new principal to lead it.

Irene Wunderlich has joined the school as its new principal, coming from St. John’s Parish in Frederick, where she served as the head of the Faith Formation and Youth Ministry programs.

She’s also worked at St. Mary’s Parish in Hagerstown, and serves on the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s vocations committee.

St. Thomas More Academy moved to the former site of the Old Middletown Primary School on Prospect Street in Middletown in July, moving from its previous location in Buckeystown.

The building had been vacant for about two years after serving as office space for Frederick County Public Schools and as a site for special education classes.

The academy offers liberal arts training in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
