James Raymond Hamilton Barnes, 85, of Ijamsville died Feb. 20, 2013.
Born on May 31, 1927, in Browningsville to the late Raymond O. and Lula Noreen Day Barnes, he was predeceased by his wife, Dena Barnes.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and operated Jimmy’s Welding Shop in Damascus and taught welding at Gaithersburg High School. He owned and operated a land-percolation business and worked as a mechanic at Bretton Woods Country Club in Poolesville.
He is survived by his daughter, Jamie Schwarz, and her husband, Kai, of Potomac; two sisters, Marion Walker of Ijamsville and Irene Sessa of Kansas; and two grandchildren.
A celebration of life will take place at 11:30 a.m. March 2 at Molesworth-Williams P.A. Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Jefferson United Methodist Cemetery in Jefferson.
