Chabad of Frederick will host “Purim in Israel” Sunday at 4:30 p.m., a celebration of the Jewish holiday of Purim at 4:30 p.m.
The event, held at the Residence Inn Marriott, 5230 Westview Drive, Frederick will feature an Israeli style buffet dinner, Israeli music, a comedian and juggler, face painting, decorating cards to send to Israeli victims of terror and other activities.
All are welcome to join, regardless of Jewish affiliation or background, and encouraged to come in costume, according to the press release.
The event costs $22 for adults and $12 for children.
The festival of Purim is celebrated every year on the 14th of the Hebrew month of Adar. It begins this year after sundown on Feb. 23 and ends at nightfall on Feb. 24. The holiday commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in Ancient Persia from Haman’s plot to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, young and old, infants and women, in a single day, according to a press release.
