Prince George’s police shut down a Greenbelt massage parlor Thursday after undercover detectives found the business was allegedly operating an illegal prostitution ring.
Bamboo Spa, in the 7700 block of Belle Point Drive, was previously investigated by undercover officers for alleged prostitution, police say.
“Detectives were able to find that it was a prostitution ring acting as a massage parlor,” said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a county police spokesman.
No one has been charged in the operation as of Thursday, said Johnson, who added he did not have any further details.
Jenny Kim, a manager at Bamboo Spa, said officers “used some kind of big weapon” to break open the door to the establishment and took their credit card machine and shut down their business. “We were just eating lunch and had one client,” she said. “He was receiving a foot massage.”
She said employees “only do massages” at Bamboo Spa.
“They’re definitely wrong,” she said. “Definitely wrong.”
Johnson said he could not verify Kim’s allegations.
Kim declined to comment further or identify her attorney.
Police will now work with the Prince George’s State’s Attorney’s Office to determine potential charges and identify suspects in the case, Johnson said.
