The Los Angeles-based Lula Washington Dance Theatre will present two days of D.C.-area performances in March at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown.

On March 7 and 8, the group will perform choreographed dances including “Ode to the Sixties,” “Reign,” “Angelitos Negros,” “Love Is...” and “We Wore the Mask.”

The March 7 performance will start at 7:30 p.m. and the March 8 performance will start at 8 p.m.

The company also will present free community activities for people of all abilities on Feb. 24 and 25.

On Feb. 24, the company will present scenes from “Avatar” and “The Little Mermaid,” a discussion of choreography in film and a preview of the March performances. The program starts at 4 p.m.

On Feb. 25, the company will hold two events. At 10:30 a.m., active seniors are invited to a free creative movement workshop with Lula Washington. From 5 to 7 p.m., children ages 6 through 16 can join the company and BlackRock’s dance students in movement workshops.

All events will be held at BlackRock Center for the Arts at 12901 Town Commons Drive in Germantown. Tickets cost $30 for the March 7 event and $32 for the March 8 event. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit blackrockcenter.org.
