On Saturday, the Taratibu Youth Association put on a Black History Month show with special guest Carolyn Malachi, a Grammy-nominated artist, at Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mount Rainier.

Taratibu Youth Association is a nonprofit organization based in Mount Rainier. The group includes young performing artists who seek to connect with peers in communities at home and abroad to explore their common purposes, identities, and goals, according to their website.

Proceeds from the event will help fund a 2013 South Africa tour for the group.
