Two Montgomery County men have been charged in connection to a robbery early Saturday morning in College Park, according to Prince George’s County police.

Akauh Johann Kassi, 18, of Silver Spring and Diamante Akeem Sulaiman, 18, of Burtonsville were arrested Saturday by police not far from where the robbery took place, according to police news release.

Around 12:35 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the area of Baltimore Avenue and Pontiac Street in College Park for the report of a robbery.

Preliminary police investigation revealed that two University of Maryland students were approached and assaulted as they walked down the street. Police said two cell phones and a wallet were taken from the victims. Neither victim suffered injures as a result of the assault.

A short time later, Prince George’s County Police officers, assisted by the University of Maryland Police Department, stopped a group of men not far from where the robbery occurred, police said. A stolen cell phone and wallet were found on the ground nearby.

Kassi and Sulaiman have been charged with robbery and second-degree assault and as of Saturday were in the custody of the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Attorney information for Kassi and Sulaiman was not yet available in online court records Sunday.
