Prince George’s County police said they have charged a second suspect in connection with the Feb. 4 death of a North Carolina man in Hillcrest Heights.
Cpl. Larry Johnson, a county police spokesman, said Robert Abba Ofoeme, 28, of Silver Spring was arrested Thursday in Washington, D.C. Johnson said Ofoeme is charged with conspiracy and solicitation to commit first- and second-degree murder, and is awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
At about 7:25 a.m. Feb. 4, Maryland-National Capital Park Police officers responded to a “man down” call at the 2600 block of Oxon Run Drive in Hillcrest Heights, police said. When they arrived, they found 20-year-old Salaam Adams of Durham, N.C., suffering from a gunshot wound, and he died at the scene, police said.
Johnson said the motive in the incident and the reason why Adams was in the area are still under investigation. He said he could not provide further details on the charges being faced by Ofoeme.
Attorney information for Ofoeme was not yet available in online court records Friday, and a phone number for Ofoeme could not be located.
On Feb. 7, county police charged Brandon Anthony Battle, 26, of the 6200 block of Springhill Court in Greenbelt with first- and second-degree murder, along with use of a handgun to commit a felony crime, according to county police and online court records.
Battle is slated for a March 4 preliminary hearing in Prince George’s County District Court in Upper Marlboro. He did not have a defense attorney listed in online court records Friday.
