Stanley Ellsworth Duvall, 85, of Woodbine, died Feb. 9, 2013, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was husband of the late Henrietta Hopkins “Tootsie” Duvall, who died July 7, 1988.
Born June 6, 1927 in Florence, Md., he was a son of the late David Howard and Margaret Catherine Duvall.
Stanley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and played in the Army Band.
He was employed as a foreman with the Howard County Highway Administration.
He was an avid hunter, and a life member of the American Legion Post 191 Mount Airy and Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church, Woodbine.
Surviving him are four step-children: Shelby Jean Bennett and husband Ollie of Woodbine; William Albert Phebus and wife Helen, of Woodbine; John Edward Phebus and wife Shirley, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and Sandra Lee Guerrera and husband Rudy of Sana Fe, Texas; a niece and caregiver Laura Nichols and husband Tony; niece Kathrine Anderson; nephews Patrick Reed and wife Kris; Wayne Duvall and wife Phyllis; and C. Edward Duvall and wife Jane; his special friend Gerald Harrison.
He also is survived by great-grandchildren, and great nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife he is preceded in death by a daughter Gloria Jean Reed, and two brothers Robert “Teets” Duvall and Lacy Duvall.
Friends may call between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Molesworth-Williams P.A., Funeral Home, at 26401 Ridge Road in Damascus.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Feb. 15 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Jennings Chapel Methodist Cemetery in Woodbine. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church, 2601 Jennings Chapel Road, Woodbine, Maryland 2179.
