I was thrilled to read your article this week, “Wheaton Costco scheduled to open April 12.” As a Kensington resident, I can’t wait for the opportunity to shop locally and buy in bulk the food and cleaning items that my family and I use on a regular basis.

I also am looking forward to the savings of time, money and gas from my no longer having to make the trek to the Beltsville Costco.

Speaking of gas, it would be nice to be able to fill up my tank on one trip to the Wheaton Costco, reducing my overall carbon footprint by not having to drive farther to cheaper stations outside of Montgomery County.

I have confidence in Costco’s plans to build a gas station that will be environmentally sound, with no health risk or negative impact to our community. Fewer car trips and one-stop, local shopping is something we should all support and encourage.
