Four Urbana Middle School students have been invited to compete in the regional history bee.

Eighth graders Addison Cathey, Justin Wade, Ian Davis and Rishub Nahar, were accepted to compete in the The National History Bee Washington Regional Finals, a qualifier for the national competition.

For the last two months, social studies teachers used a 70 question written test to select the top four students from all three grades to compete in the online regional qualifying exams.

The four eighth-grade students selected had 25 minutes to answer 80 United States and world history questions. They had each 20 seconds per question and all finished under the time limit.

The 120 top scorers in each of the 35 regions compete at the regional finals. The Washington, D.C. finals will be held from 5-8 p.m. April 23 at Westland Middle School, 5511 Massachusetts Ave., in Bethesda.

The 2013 National History Bee Championships will be held June 1 in Atlanta.
