DeMatha Catholic High School’s Lacrosse Boosters are holding a mulch sale this month to fundraise for transportation, field upkeep, referees and equipment for the school’s team.
The sale at the Hyattsville school runs until Feb. 24 with a delivery date of March 3. The cost of each bag of mulch is $5.50 for a three-cubic-foot bag of shredded, hardwood mulch. The fundraiser is the largest fundraiser for the team each year, with players and parents selling more than $6,000 bags, said Marisa Surdick, a parent of a lacrosse player volunteering for the program.
Jim Groves, a parent of a student at the school who is involved in the sale, said in an email that he was excited to participate in the sale again.
“Last year was my first year selling it and I got so many requests after it was over for more,” Groves said. “So we encourage folks to go ahead and order a few more than they think because there are lots of areas that need mulching in a yard.”
