Laurel High School senior Karen Olorunfemi was named Prince George’s County Public School System’s “Scholar of the Week.”

According to a school system release, Olorunfemi’s academic highlights include AP World History, AP English Language and Composition, AP Biology, AP Psychology, Honors U.S. History and Honors English 9 and 10, and she currently holds a 3.5 GPA.

Her extracurricular activities include membership in the National Honor Society, Class of 2013 board member of the World Vision’s Youth Empowerment program, Bethel Campus Fellowship Bible Study, African Student Association, Yearbook Committee and she participated in the Diamonds on a Mission Youth in Motion program.

Olorunfemi will apply to St. John’s University, Hampton University, John Hopkins University, University of Maryland Baltimore County, Cornell University, Mount St. Mary’s University and Hofstra University, according to the release.
