Twenty-three Montgomery County Public Schools students have been named recipients of full-tuition, four-year college scholarships from the Posse Foundation.

The Posse program identifies public high-school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may have been overlooked by traditional college selection processes. Forty-four colleges and universities partner with the Posse Foundation, each offering full-tuition scholarships to students.

They create multicultural teams, called Posses, on each campus. Student teams receive professional guidance before and throughout college and support one another. On campus, students serve in important leadership roles.

Last year, MCPS had 15 Posse Foundation scholarship winners. This year’s recipients come from 14 different schools. The receipients and the partner colleges from which they have been offered scholarships are:

Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School: Feevan B. Megersa, Lafayette College; Nehemiah D. Siyoum, University of Wisconsin-Madison; Noah E. Wossen, Pepperdine University

James Hubert Blake High School, Silver Spring: Gregory S. Chaimson, Bucknell University; Cecilia A. Kwakye, Grinnell College

Montgomery Blair High School, Silver Spring: Fridien R. Nana Tchoukoua, Sewanee: The University of the South

Winston Churchill High School, Potomac: Adrien Bossogo-Egoume, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Gaithersburg High School: Alfredo Sebastian Colina Iturralde, Grinnell College; Doralina Ruiz-Fleites, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Colonel Zadok Magruder High School, Rockville: Gabrielle K. Matthews, Grinnell College
