Prince George’s County police and University of Maryland, College Park, campus police are investigating separate indecent exposure incidents that took place Tuesday.

According to county police, around 8:40 a.m. in the 4500 block of College Avenue in College Park, a victim told police she saw a man in his 40s with his pants down performing a sex act on himself next to a vehicle.

Hours later, university police responded to a similar incident on campus involving a man in his 20s.

Detectives from both Prince George’s and the university are working to identify the suspects and praised the victims for their quick reporting, county police said.

Police said there does not appear to be a connection between the two incidents.

Capt. Robert Mueck, a campus police spokesman, said such incidents at UM are not necessarily common.

“It does happen on occasion. Maybe it’s just the environment, but we’ve never had anything specifically like this before,” said Mueck regarding two similar incidents in one day.

Anyone with information is asked to call the county police department’s Regional Investigation Division at 301-699-2601.
