Two middle school girls who have been missing for a week were found safe Thursday morning in Wheaton, according to Montgomery County Police.

Police said, Karina Cornejo-Galdmaez, 12, of the 9300 block of Merust Lane in Montgomery Village, was last seen at Montgomery Village Middle School where she is a student on Jan. 23 at around 2:30 p.m.

The second girl, Rosa Rivas-Ascencio, 14, of the 18000 block of Nathans Place in Gaithersburg, was last seen at Neelsville Middle School in Germantown where she is a student, on Jan. 23 at about 2:30 p.m.

Montgomery County detectives said the two girls had been traveling together.

Police said Thursday foul play was not involved in their disappearance, but they were concerned for the girls’ welfare because of their ages and because of the length of time they have been away from home, according to Officer Rebecca Innocenti, a Montgomery County police spokeswoman.
