Warren R. Ebinger, 85, of Gaithersburg, died Jan. 6., 2013.
Born Dec. 18, 1927, in Effingham, Ill., to the late Robert and Florence Schlap Ebinger, he is survived by Mary Ritzman Ebinger, his wife of 61 years. He was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Ebinger.
He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Japan from 1946 to 1947, after which he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1951 from North Central College in Naperville, Ill. He earned a Masters of Divination from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill., and a Ph.D. from American University in Washington, D.C., in 1976. He worked in various capacities in the ministry until his retirement at age 70.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lee Ebinger of Burke, Va., Lori Lear and husband Gregory of Naperville, Ill., and Jonathan Ebinger and wife Mary Louise of Palo Alto, Calif.; his siblings, Sylvia Riley of Montgomery, Ill., and Alice Hohmann of Montgomery, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service took place on Jan. 11 at Woodside United Methodist Church in Silver Spring. Pumphrey Colonial Funeral Home in Rockville handled the arrangements.
