A Forestville man was arrested after shooting at Prince George's police officers who came to his home to search for narcotics Monday morning.
Jeremiah Ronald Pearson, 25, of Forestville, is charged with multiple counts of attempted murder and is being held in the county's department of corrections, where he will await a bond hearing.
County police said around 5 a.m. Monday, officers from the Special Operations Division came to the 3300 block of Walters Lane to serve the warrant. As officers tried to enter a home through a heavy steel door, ramming it for about a minute before getting inside, Pearson allegedly fired a round at the officers but the bullet struck the steel door, according to police.
Detectives believe Pearson's gun jammed after firing the first shot, police said. He then allegedly ran into a rear bedroom and threw the handgun out of the window, but was arrested without any struggle.
No one was inured, police said.
According to police, officers recovered a .22 caliber handgun, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Pearson was previously found guilty of marijuana possession in 2009, according to online county court records.
Defense attorney information for Pearson was not listed with the courts by Monday, according to online records.
A phone number for Pearson's residence could not be located.
