Explorations Unlimited will conduct a presentation on preventing falls from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the Greenbelt Community Center, 15 Crescent Road in room 114.

Explorations Unlimited is a free weekly speaker series geared towards senior citizens but open to all members of the public, Recreation Supervisor Karen Haseley said.

Julia McFadden, a movement specialist with Specialty Cares Services, a home health care agency, will speak on ways to improve balance, prevent falls and will be providing demonstrations, Haseley said.

“She’ll be talking about things you can do from a chair and from a sitting position,” she said.

McFadden has been a fitness and wellness promotion professional for more than 20 years and has shared her enthusiasm for fitness through public speaking, contributions to trade publications and television appearances, according to a release.

She received her initial training through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and has a Master’s degree in marketing from John Hopkins University, according to a press release from Explorations Unlimited.
