Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Fort Washington Sunday morning.

Around midnight early Sunday morning, police were called to the 7700 block of Webster Lane for a shooting, according to a news release from the Prince George’s County Police Department. When they arrived, officers found Marcus Antonio Jones, 16, of the 800 block of Swan Creek Road East in Fort Washington outside, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, the release said.

Jones was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, the release said.

Investigators believe an unknown person shot Jones shot as he walked to a car after leaving a home on Webster Lane, according to the news release. Detectives have not yet identified a suspect or motive, but are “following up on substantial leads,” according to the release.
