Prince George’s County Police are investigating a murder in District Heights Friday night.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of Tulip Avenue in District Heights at about 9:20 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Prince George’s County Police Department. When the officers arrived, they found 23-year-old Antonio Delonte Ross of the 1600 block of Tulip Avenue suffering from gunshot wounds, the release said.

Ross was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, acording to the release.

Investigators are still working to identify the person or people responsible for the murder and the motive, the release said, but they do not believe this was a random crime.

Detectives believe the suspect or suspects fled the scene in a silver Chrysler 300, which was later discovered set on fire in Washington, D.C., the release said. Police did not immediately return calls requesting more information about the investigation Saturday afternoon.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call the department’s homicide unit at 301-772-4925. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 866-411-8477 or visit princegeorgescountymd.gov/police to submit a tip online.
