Rockville will hold a celebration in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. 10 a.m. Jan. 21 at Richard Montgomery High School, 250 Richard Montgomery Drive in Rockville.

DeRionne P. Pollard, president of Montgomery College, is the featured speaker, and several dance companies and musical groups will perform.

Montgomery County will hold a Tribute and Musical Celebration in honor of King at 3 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane in North Bethesda. Activities will include musical performances, dance acts and an awards presentation.

The event is free, but tickets are required and available on a limited basis at strathmore.org or by calling 301-581-5100. A stand-by line outside the center will begin at 2 p.m. the evening of the performance, and ticket holders must arrive by 2:45 p.m.

A Day of Service is planned for Jan. 21, starting with a program from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, 5701 Marinelli Road in North Bethesda. Additional service project sites are located around the county. Find a place to volunteer and register at montgomeryserves.org.
