A Mount Airy man was killed Friday night after his truck struck a stone wall on Lynn Burke Road, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

William Owen Mulkey, 59, who was driving a Ford Explorer, struck the wall after he failed to negotiate a curve in the 5000 block of Lynn Burke Road in Mount Airy, a sheriff’s office news release said. Mulkey was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash was reported around 8:37 p.m., according to the release. Lynn Burke Road was closed between Old Bartholows Road and Lee Hill Drive while the sheriff’s office investigated the crash. Further information was not available Saturday morning.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information related to the crash can contact DFC Tim Calimer of the office’s Traffic Unit at 301-600-4132.
