Hundreds of students at Henry A. Wise Jr. High School were named to the honor roll for the school’s first quarter including 84 who were listed on the principal’s honor roll for having 4.0 grade point averages.

“These students have lunch with the principal and received a pin and T-shirt with our school slogan: ‘Average is Officially Over,’” said Wise principal Carletta Marrow.

A total of 662 students were awarded for making the first quarter honor roll at the Upper Marlboro school.

There were 418 students with 3.0 to 3.5 GPAs, 244 students with 3.5 or higher GPAs.

Ninety-five freshmen, 128 sophomores, 184 juniors and 255 seniors were given the honor roll awards.

Additionally, 59 juniors and seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society.
