A missing man who escaped from a Takoma Park hospital was found by the Rockville City Police Department on Friday and is now in custody, according to the Takoma Park Police Department.

Clayton Mollenhoff, 27, escaped from Washington Adventist Hospital on Wednesday around 9:20 p.m., according to a Thursday news release from Catherine Plevy, public information officer for Takoma Park police.

The hospital contacted Takoma Park police after Mollenhoff “broke down a door and fled the hospital,” Washington Adventist Hospital spokesperson Lydia Parris said in an email statement.

“We are continuing to work with the patient, as well as the patient’s family, to determine the appropriate next step in his care,” Parris said in the email.

Rockville police are speaking with Takoma Park police detectives, Plevy said.

In the news release, Mollenhoff was described as someone who suffers from paranoia, is suicidal, has a history of violence, has extensive martial arts training, carries weapons, and is a drug and alcohol user.
