Poets 18 and older are invited to enter the Bethesda Poetry Contest for a chance to win $500 and be published in The Writer’s Center “First Person Plural” blog. The contest is sponsored by the Bethesda Urban Partnership, a nonprofit that markets downtown Bethesda, and The Writer’s Center, a nonprofit that hosts literary events and writing workshops.

The contest is part of the 14th Annual Bethesda Literary Festival, which takes place April 19-21 and will also showcase novelists, journalists, poets and children’s authors throughout downtown Bethesda’s bookstores, arts organizations and community centers.

The first place winner in the poetry contest will also receive a gift certificate to The Writer’s Center. The second place winner will receive $250; the third place winner will receive $150; and honorable mentions will be awarded $75 each. All winners will be honored at a special event during the Bethesda Literary Festival. Winning poems will also be posted on the Bethesda Urban Partnership website.
