Peggy Anne Hansen, 88, of Bethesda, died Dec. 31, 2012.

Born July 24, 1924, in Garden City, N.Y., to Margaret Ludlow Harison deMercado and Frank Elliot deMercado, she was predeceased by her husband John Richard Hansen.

She attended Garden City High School in New York and went to Wellesley College of Massachusetts, Columbia University School of Journalism and received her master’s degree in law from Antioch School of Law. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 and continued in the reserve until her honorable discharge in 1952.

She is survived by her daughter, Kari Anne Michelsen and husband John Carson, and a grandson.

Interment will occur at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
