Three pedestrians were hit by cars on Monday evening in the Gaithersburg and Germantown area.
A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a car Monday night as he was crossing Wisteria Drive in Germantown, according to Montgomery County police. Two more pedestrians were struck on Route 355 in Gaithersburg a few hours later.
Police had not identified the pedestrians as of Tuesday morning.
The pedestrian in the Germantown accident — who investigators believe is Hispanic and in his early 30’s — was crossing east to west on Wisteria Drive just north of Route 118 when he was struck in the northbound lanes outside the crosswalk around 6:30 p.m., police said.
The driver of the white 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, 51-year-old Ousmane Seydi of the 13600 block of Winterspoon Lane in Germantown, remained on the scene and is assisting with the investigation, according to police.
The pedestrian remained in grave condition at a local hospital as of Monday night.
On Monday evening, a man and a woman were struck at the intersection of Route 355 and Shady Grove Road. According to Montgomery County police spokesperson Angela Cruz, police arrived at the scene at 8:43 p.m.
The man and woman, whose identities have not yet been released, were taken to a local hospital in serious condition. They are expected to survive, Cruz said. It has not yet been determined whether the pedestrians were attempting to cross at a crosswalk or in the roadway.
The driver, who has not been identified, stayed at the scene after the crash, Cruz said. The incident is under investigation.
