A town house fire in Frederick Friday night left the occupants of three homes displaced, and left some major damage to the back of the home where the fire originated, according to Michael P. Dmuchowski, spokesman for Frederick County’s Fire and Rescue Services.

The fire occurred at 41 Apple Way in Frederick, which is located in the middle of a six-unit row of town houses, Dmuchowski said.

Firefighters at the Independent Hose Company Station 1 first responded the call, which came in around 8 p.m., and multiple county fire stations were called in for back up, Dmuchowski said. Firefighters put the fire out in 20 minutes, he said.

Investigators determined that the fire had spread from the chimney to the interior of the home, Dmuchowski said.

The home at 41 Apple Way had damage to the basement, roof and major structural damage toward the rear of the home, he said.

“There are a lot of repairs that need to be made,” he said.

Two neighboring homes also had minor roof damage, and their homes could not be occupied as of last night, Dmuchowski said.

There were two occupants displaced at the home at 41 Apple Way, but Dmuchowski said he did not know how many occupants were displaced in the neighboring homes. There were no injuries as a result of the fire, Dmuchowski said.
