The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce installed the following officers: Ron Dimaranan of Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union, chairman; David Edgerley of Sonabank, chairman-elect; Robert Cowdrey of Capital Bank, treasurer; and vice chairmen Colette Releford of Strive Business Solutions, Jerry Pasternak of Pepco, Anita Anderson of BlackRock Center for the Arts and Scott Wallace of Linowes and Blocher.

JBS International of North Bethesda promoted Candace Charkow, Jennifer Kasten and Larry Robertson to vice president. Before joining JBS in 2006, Charkow was administrator with the Delaware Office of Children’s Services.

U.S. Diagnostics Standards of Rockville named Christopher Singer CEO, succeeding Jeffrey Cossman. Previously, Singer was chief global operating officer at U.S. Pharmacopeia and COO for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, and also worked for GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer and Bristol Myers.

The Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association of Silver Spring presented its annual Milton E. Kettler Award to Richard J. Thometz of Hailey Development and Efficient Homes, both of Burtonsville, “in honor of a lifetime achievement of unselfish participation, contributions and service not only to the [association] and the building industry but also to the general community”; and its Joseph C. Rodgers Sr. Award to Hugh M. Carroll of Insurance Associates of Rockville, given to “a non-builder member in recognition of outstanding contributions in leadership, membership support and overall Association participation.”

Johns Hopkins Medicine promoted Gene E. Green to president of Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, succeeding Brian Gragnolati, who was named senior vice president for the Johns Hopkins Health System, overseeing its community division, which includes Suburban, Sibley Memorial and Howard County General hospitals. Previously, Green was vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer for Johns Hopkins Community Physicians.

Marilyn Balcombe, president and CEO of the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce, was elected 2013 board president of the Maryland Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.

F. Kirk Kolodner was named to the family law committee of the Bar Association of Baltimore City. Kolodner is a member and litigation section chairman at Adelberg, Rudow, Dorf & Hendler of Baltimore.

White Lodging of Merrillville, Ind., named Tim Grant as general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn in Annapolis. Previously, Grant was general manager of the Residence Inn in Rocky Hill, Conn.

The Maryland Science Center in Baltimore named Dana Gullard marketing assistant and Annamarie Damron a graphic designer. Previously, Gullard was marketing and advertising coordinator with Chas Spa and Salon. Damron was senior product development coordinator and design coordinator at the Petting Zoo.

Profiles of Baltimore promoted Erin Culloty to account coordinator from junior account executive.

The Global Virus Network of Baltimore named Sharon Hrynkow president. Previously, Hrynkow was deputy director of the Fogarty International Center at the National Institutes of Health, associate director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, and counselor and senior scientist in the Secretary of State’s Office of Science and Technology.

NovaSom of Glen Burnie named Stefan Elterich a senior sales executive. Previously, Elterich was vice president sales and channel management-Americas with ResMed and also worked for Abbott Laboratories’ Ross Products Division, MCI and IBM.

Colliers International in Baltimore named Michael Ruocco of Towson an associate. Previously, Ruocco worked for BMG Music and was a principal in Plungo Touring.
