Artist Yemi has unveiled a new set of historic color murals for Resthaven Memorial Gardens and Crematory in Frederick.
The artwork is a series of 10 exterior murals for the facility. The murals each measure about 40 square feet and are displayed on the outside of the brick exterior walls of the mausoleum.
One of the murals features Francis Scott Key and his contributions during the War of 1812, including his writing of “The Star Strangled Banner.” Another mural is of the Hessian Barracks, used during the Revolutionary War, and another of John Hanson, the country’s first president under the Articles of Confederation.
Plans are also under way for additional historical murals.
