Sometimes holiday cheer presents itself a little earlier than expected.

Such is the case with Reece’s Rainbow, an organization that helps find adoptive families for children with special needs.

With the average cost of just one adoption being $25,000, every little donation helps. A recent $10,000 donation to Reece’s Rainbow from Cultivate Wines will help a lot.

“Cultivate was founded by Charles and Ali Banks,” says Eliza Coleman, chief creative officer at Cultivate Wines. “They were involved in the philanthropy circuit. They created a business model to give back on a daily basis, which is their favorite part of the industry.”

Cultivate provides 10 percent of its revenue to different nonprofit organizations throughout the year.

“We wanted a democratic way to give money away we set it up as an online platform,” Coleman says. “Nonprofits fill in an application online. Anyone can vote once per day.”

The $10,000 being given to Reece’s Rainbow will be applied equally to 10 different adoptions going on.

The holiday happiness doesn’t stop there. On Dec. 18-20, Ruby Tuesday, located at Lake Forest Mall at 701 Russell Ave., Gathersburg, will donate 20 percent of each patron’s purchase to Reece’s Rainbow’s Voice of Hope Fund.

Patrons wishing to donate can either dine at Ruby Tuesday on those three days, or visit reecesrainbow.org.
