Montgomery County police Sgt. Tom Harmon — aka Santa Claus — leaves the Upcounty Regional Services Center in Germantown Dec. 12 after greeting children at Peppertree Children’s Center, enroute to the Children’s Inn at National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda. The annual Santa escort ride, which features a motorcade formed by members of county law enforcement, collects donations for the Inn, which provides housing and programs for families while their children are receiving treatment for serious, life-threatening illnesses at NIH. Harmon first greeted the children of Peppertree, then he and other officers dropped off the donations and visited with the children and their families at NIH.
