A Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School senior was named the Prince George’s County Public Schools’ “Scholar of the Week.”

Mariah Hackett currently has a 4.25 grade point average and is a member of the Upper Marlboro school’s softball team, swim team, basketball team, track and field team and National Honor Society.

According to PGCPS, she has taken or is currently taking honors English 9, honors biology, honors U.S. history, AP American government, AP English language, AP biology and AP English literature.

Hackett has applied to Drexel University, Salisbury University and Virginia Commonwealth University and plans to become a nurse with a focus on emergency room nursing, according to the county school system’s website.

She was also nominated to be on the Prince George’s County Youth Commission, a committee to coordinate programming for youth in the county.
