A man is dead following a pedestrian hit-and-run in Greenbelt on Tuesday.

Around 6:27 p.m., the man was crossing the southbound lanes of Hanover Parkway near Ora Glen Drive walking toward the U.S. Post Office when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Hanover Parkway, according to Greenbelt police.

Police said the vehicle kept driving in the direction of Good Luck Road.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and died around 11:15 p.m., police said. Greenbelt police declined to disclose if the victim was a Greenbelt resident.

According to witnesses, the vehicle was a light silver Mercedes-Benz sedan with possible front end damage, police said.

During the investigation, police said officers recovered the vehicle and the suspected driver has also been identified, though police have not released the suspectís identity.
