Jeffrey Franklin Pope, 55, La Plata

Jeffrey Franklin Pope, 55, of La Plata died Dec. 5, 2012, at the Charles County Hospice House, Waldorf.

Born Dec. 31, 1956, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of Franklin James Pope and Donna Lorraine Motter Pope.

Mr. Pope was an employee with Melwood for 40 years. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, going to Ocean City, N.J., visiting his sister, Lisa, in North Carolina and going to festivals, climbing to the top of Mount Mitchell, shopping, watching the Weather Channel on TV and going on errands with his dad. He was fond of his cat, Cuddles.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Lisa Pope of Burnsville, N.C.; brother, Brian R. Pope of Welcome; uncle, Gary Motter of Utica, N.Y.; and many cousins.

A memorial service was held Dec. 10 at La Plata United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bruce Jones officiated.
