The 41st Charles County Middle Schools archery tournament for grades six through eight boys and girls were held at the Milton M. Somers Middle School gymnasium in La Plata on Dec. 4.

Somers, Piccowaxen, Benjamin Stoddert, John Hanson, General Smallwood, Matthew Henson, Theodore G. Davis and Mattawoman were at the tournament.

Archery teams were made up of two girls (a team) and two boys (a team) each from each middle school. Each archer shot two rounds of six arrows each from two different distances. Sixth-grade girls and boys shot from the 15- and 20-yard lines, seventh-grade girls and boys shot from the 20- and 25-yard lines and eighth-grade girls and boys shot from the 20- and 30-yard lines.

Gold or yellow scored nine points, while red scored seven points, blue five points, black three points and white one point. A perfect score was 54 points.
