Local nonprofits are seeking donations of food, clothing and books this holiday season.

Clothing racks at the Interfaith Clothing Center in Rockville are nearly empty because so many people are in need of clothing. Donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It is closed Sundays and select holidays. The Interfaith Clothing Center is located at 751 Twinbrook Parkway.

Clothing also can be dropped off any time at 6703 Pawtucket Road (between Maryknoll and Cayuga near Wilson Lane), Bethesda, Md. 20817, along with books, which go to the American Association of University Women's local book sale to raise money for scholarships.

Bethesda Help, an all-volunteer organization that offers short-term assistance to residents in financial crisis who live in southern Montgomery County, is seeking donations of food. Donations of cans of soup, fish, meats, vegetables and fruit and plastic jars of peanut butter and jelly are particularly needed. They can be dropped off at 6703 Pawtucket Road anytime until the New Year.
