The Accokeek Foundation is training regional beginning farmers. The winter farm series will feature lectures and farm tours on some of the area’s most successful winter farming models, and offer a practical component on the ecosystem farm, a certified organic farm operation in Accokeek.

The organization needs a volunteer in an assistant position to support the practical component in the everyday functions of a first-season winter farm model, as demonstrated by production on the ecosystem farm. The assistant may also participate in the preparation of vegetables and marketing for the Friday Winter Farm Market held in January and February.
