Leonard Eugene Mudd, 88, Chevy Chase

Leonard Eugene “Chip” Mudd, 88, of Chevy Chase died Dec. 2, 2012, at home.

Mr. Mudd retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as the Director, Office of Airport Safety and Standards.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Alfred E. Mudd; sister, Ellen Mudd Bryan; niece, Mary Lou Zachary; and nephew, John E. Mudd.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Morris Mudd; nieces, Margaret Wargo, Joan Raetzel and Susan Peterson; and nephews, Robert Bryan, Thomas Bryan and Jeffrey Mudd.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Dec. 5 at Joseph Gawler’s Sons LLC, Washington, D.C. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Dec. 6 at the Church of the Little Flower, Bethesda. A private burial will be held for the family.
