One person is dead and another is injured after a two-vehicle collision in Upper Marlboro early Tuesday.

Prince Georges police said around 3:38 a.m., the driver of a tractor-trailer was driving along Dower House Road near Old Marlboro Pike when he was struck from the rear by a pickup truck.

The passenger of the pickup truck was pronounced dead inside the vehicle when officers arrived on scene, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a county police spokesman.

While the passenger died, the driver of the pickup truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries and the driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured, said Johnson.

The identity of the deceased passenger has not been released as their next of kin is being notified, Johnson said.

Dower House Road and Old Marlboro Pike remain closed while a collision analysis team assesses the incident. Johnson said a cause for the collision is still being investigated.
