The Prince George’s County police department will donate coats to those in need this holiday season.

On Friday, residents came to the county police department’s headquarters in Palmer Park to receive free gently used coats.

Police partnered with One Warm Coat Organization in October and began collecting coats for those needing warm jackets in the community, according to a county police statement. The department received more than 500 donations as of Nov. 27.

Collection boxes were set up throughout the county at each of the police district stations.

The coat giveaway was held from 5 to 9 p.m.
