Rose Marie Burroughs, 76, of St. Mary’s City died Nov. 24, 2012, at Hospice House of St. Mary’s in Callaway.

Born Nov. 9, 1936, in St. Mary’s City, she was the daughter of Marie Dement Wood and the late Charles Dolie Wood.

She was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s City. She graduated from St. Michael’s Catholic School in Ridge. On Nov. 17, 1956, she married Benjamin Leroy Burroughs, who preceded her in death.

She was employed by the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division as a program analyst for 41 years.

She was a social person who loved to spend time with people. She never missed her weekly appointment with her dear friend, Ellen. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching her favorite television shows and dancing. Her favorite dance was the jitterbug. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family brought her great joy.

She is survived by her mother of St. Mary’s City; daughters, Terri M. Meunier of St. Inigoes and Lisa A. Schuman of Lexington Park; grandchildren, Nicole Hale Zapf (Jim) of Baltimore, Christopher Hale (Ada) of Gaithersburg, Heather Meunier (Jon Warnock) of Boyce, Va., Tara Meunier of Baltimore, Danielle Schuman Zelinsky (Chris) of Ridge and Elizabeth Schuman of Ridge; great-grandchildren, Brayden Warnock of Boyce, Levi Warnock of Boyce, Jack Zapf of Baltimore and Elyse Zalinsky of Ridge; and siblings, James Wood (Gay) of Washington, D.C., John Wood (Sarah) of St. Mary’s City, Francis Wood (Cecilia) of St. Inigoes, Roberta Davis (Wilson) of St. Mary’s City, Shirley Melton (Tom) of Churchton, Charles Dolie “C.D.” Wood (Judy) of Hollywood and Mary Jones (Michael) of Ellicott City. She was preceded in death by her father and husband.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in St. Mary’s City. Interment will be private.
