A water line break at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase YMCA forced officials to close the building at noon today, and the facility will remain closed until the line can be repaired.
YMCA employees first discovered water in the pump room yesterday, but officials determined the problem is the outside water line, according to Brian Nason, associate executive director for the Bethesda-Chevy Chase YMCA .
Workers are on site digging up portions of the back lot to pinpoint the leak in the pipe, Nason said.
YMCA members are asked to use nearby Silver Spring, Reston or the National Capital branches of the YMCA until the Bethesda branch at 9401 Old Georgetown Road can reopen. Water service to the building was turned off about noon and Nason said until the leak is discovered it is unclear how long the building will remain closed.
Nason said members can get a status update on the repair on the YMCA facebook page and website at www.ymcadc.org.
