Bowie officials invite residents to get a little blue.

This month, the city debuted a new art exhibit featuring blue bottles painted with the images of such notables as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Leonardo Da Vinci, according to a statement from the city.

The exhibit, which went up Nov. 3, is called Blue Bottle Saints and features 33 bottles. The works were crafted by Marla McLean, an adjunct professor at Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C.

Displaying the works is free for the city, said Annette Esterheld a city arts specialist.

The works will be on display through December and there is no charge to see them at Bowie City Hall, Esterheld said.

The bottles can be viewed at city hall from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday. On the weekend they can be viewed between 9 a.m. and noon.
