Frederick police arrested a man Sunday in connection with a burglary.

Jeffrey Allen Dove, 25, of Walkersville, was arrested after being discovered in the 300 block of Redwood Avenue, according to information from the Frederick City Police Department. He has been charged with first-degree burglary, attempted first-degree burglary, malicious destruction of property over $500, malicious destruction of property less than $500 and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police received a report of a burglary in progress Saturday, and when they arrived on the scene around 10:06 p.m., they found signs of forced entry at two homes. During their canvass of homes near the scene, they saw Dove attempting to cover his face and leave the area. Officer Joseph Wheeler reported smelling a moderate to strong odor of marijuana on hime, according to the police, and a search of Dove revealed an eight-inch-long throwing knife in his front pocket.

An investigation of the scene led them to believe Dove was the person responsible for the destruction to the homes, according to police.

A preliminary hearing for Dove is scheduled for Dec. 18, according to online court records, which had no attorney information listed for Dove yet.
