Del. Jon S. Cardin is holding a fundraiser for his exploratory committee as he considers a run for Maryland attorney general in 2014.
Cardin (D-Dist. 11) of Owings Mills, an attorney and the nephew of U.S. Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (D), announced the fundraiser this week in an email. The event is scheduled for Dec. 4 at a home in Baltimore.
Cardin could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Cardin was elected to the House of Delegates in 2002. In August 2009, he was criticized by The Baltimore Sun for using a Baltimore police helicopter as part of an elaborate scheme in which he borrowed a friendís boat to propose to his girlfriend in Baltimoreís harbor.
Cardin joins Sen. Brian E. Frosh (D-Dist. 16) of Chevy Chase, who announced in July that he was exploring a potential run for attorney general.
Many believe current Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler will run for governor in 2014, although he has yet to confirm his intentions.
