Virginia Mae “Billie” McGinnis, 93, of Hughesville died Nov. 18, 2012, at Taylor Farm Assisted Living.

Born April 4, 1919, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Ethel Scott Mason, John Glenn Mason and Harry Scott.

She loved spending time with her family, her pets and enjoyed cooking and reading. She worked in the accounting department as a clerk for C&P Telephone Co. for 21 years, retiring in 1984. In retirement, she volunteered at her great-grandchildren’s elementary school, Civista Medical Center, Catherine Foundation and Care Net Pregnancy Center of Southern Maryland.

She is survived by her son, Patrick McGinnis and his wife, Dari; her two granddaughters and their husbands, Wendy and John Anvari and Amy and Gregory Flach; five great-grandchildren, Zachary Michelbrink, Morgan Anvari, Hannah Flach, Emily Flach and Alexander Flach; and her “adopted” granddaughter, Shirley McCaffrey.

The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall, where a private funeral service for her immediate family, will take place Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Garrett Connor will officiate.
